Opium poppy (Papaver somniferum) in a double-flower variety mix consists of reliable and easily cultivated annual plants. Thanks to this seed selection you will host a palette of cheerful colours in your garden all summer long. These plants grow up to 80 cm tall, while their leaves and stems take on bluish-green colour. Large double flowers with a diameter of 10 to 12 cm look like they have been made of thin paper. Red, orange, white, pink or yellow blooms look great planted in small groups on tall borders. They work well as cut flowers. Combined with grasses and other meadow flowers they form excellent bouquets. This species is perfectly fitted for naturalistic and flowery meadow arrangements.

Poppy seeds are sown in spring directly into soil. You may produce seedlings earlier in pots at home, but those need to be transplanted together with soil lump. Plants should grow in 30 x 40 cm spacings. Poppies sold in our online store are easy in cultivation and require practically no care. They prefer fully sunny sites and moist, permeable soils rich in nutrients and calcium.
