Snake Gourd is a rampant annual vine, which produces shoots that grow up to 2.5 metres in length. The main decorative element of this variety is its very long sinuous fruit with a hard skin that grow around 80 centimetres in length. The fruit are a beautiful indoor decoration and are oftentimes used to decorate gardens. Snake Gourd is particularly recommended to be used as a decoration for various garden objects.
Growing: sow the seeds under cover in April or directly into the soil in early May; in the latter case, sow 2 to 3 seeds in each position, 2 to 3 centimetres deep into the soil, in 70-107m spacings. Stake the plants in the open ground or in a foil tunnel. The plants require moist fertile soils in sunny positions that are covered from the wind.
