"Matucana" sweet pea (Lathyrus odoratus Matucana) is a great offer for the afficionados of creeping plants with intensely coloured blooms. This plant produces large, sweet-scented vividly blue blooms with deeply red banners. Butterfly-shaped flowers appear in large numbers on a slender, climbing stems that vigorously creep on all kinds of supports with their elastic runners. Sweet pea blooms all summer long, from June until September. It can be shaped as thick, aromatic, blooming curtain, that would cover a wire fence or arbour. The plant grows circa 120 cm tall and looks great accompanied by sweet pea varieties with pastel-coloured blooms.

The sow can take place in March and April. The seeds should be placed in a verticulated, weeded soil on a warm and sunny site. Due to the large growth of the green mass, the "Matucana" sweet pea needs a fertile, calcium, preferably compost-enriched soil.
