The Gwen tulip produces dazzling white flowers with lavender blue edges that spread as the blooms mature. This bicolour effect is subtle and striking at the same time. These tender flowers sit atop string, green, about 45 cm tall stems. The Gwen tulip is recommended to be grown on borders and in planters on a balcony or patio. It order to bring their colouring to the foreground, we recommend to plant it together with the purple varieties, such as the Attila. The Triumph tulips, including the presented Gwen variety, enjoy constant popularity thanks to their trademark tulip shape. Their strong stems handle tough weather conditions well and are therefore valuable cut flowers.

Tulips are rather undemanding in regard to growing conditions. These plants do not require much attention from the gardener. You only need to learn their basic requirements regarding the site in order to enjoy the beautiful flowers. Tulips grow best in the medium heavy to light soil. The loam-sandy soil should be permeable, rich in nutrients and the organic matter. It is recommended to avoid planting tulips in the waterlogged, acid, heavy or dried soil. Tulips prefer sunny sites, yet several hours of shade per day will not hurt them. We recommend to prepare the site for tulip cultivation in advance. The soil should be cultivated, weeded and the larger stones removed from it. The admixture of finely ground compost will provide the bulbs with the much needed support at the start. You may also add some sand in order to make the soil lighter. Tulips do not need to be excavated every year, but we recommend to do so every 3 to 4 years in order to strengthen the plants. This would also allow you to propagate the tulips by separating the bulblets. Tulips tolerate Central European winters and may grow at the same site for at least a few years.

Tulip bulbs have to be planted in autumn. September and October are considered the perfect time for planting. The optimal planting depth equals two heights of a bulb. The planting distance depends on the visual effect you would like to achieve. Allow 15 - 20 cm between the bulbs and the same distance between rows on average.

Each package contains 5 bulbs of the tulip Gwen sized 11 to 12 cm. The packaging label contains the basic information about the plant and the growing instructions.
