The Shirley Double tulip is a new version of the popular and valued pastel white and pale purple Shirley tulip. In contrary to its predecessor, the variety offered here develops immense, double flowers. As one of the tallest medium late tulips, the Shirley Double enjoys popularity among the gardeners that look for stylish varieties for the flower bed centres. This garden beauty that becomes up to 60 cm tall will look splendid even in smaller groupings at the garden entrance, on a lawn edge or alongside the path that leads to the house. Irrespective of the surroundings, its creamy-white flowers with pale purple edges will look spectacular, particularly when you take into account that their colour changes with time and they turn pastel pink.
The bulbs of the tall double tulips should be planted in 15-20 x 15-20 cm spacings. Choose a wind-sheltered and sunny, or partially shady, site for them. The soil needs to be rich in humus and permeable. In fact every garden soil can host tulips. You only need to put a drainage layer into the holes before putting the bulbs inside. The pastel coloured Shirley Double tulip looks nice when grown alone, but you will be able to achieve even more striking results by combining it with the pink, purple and creamy-white tulips, such as Dragon King, Fontainebleau, Maureen Double, Rejoyce, Salvo and Vogue. You can and should combine it with the tall narcissi and crown imperials.
Package contains 250 bulbs of the Shirley Double tulip, sized 12 to 14 cm. The most important plant growing tips were included in the package information.
