Vial's primrose (Primula vialii) is a perennial plant producing magnificent inflorescences. These plants form an earthbound rosette of lanceolate leaves from which stems ending with conical inflorescences appear. The plants grow 20 – 30 cm tall. The spike, ear-shaped inflorescences appear at the beginning of summer. Corolla scales take on deep red colour, while the bell-shaped, lavender-blue flowers grow from the bottom, creating an impression of bicolour blooms. Vial's primrose looks great in larger groupings on borders, flower beds and edgings.

Vial's primrose is an easy-to-grow plant. Seedlings need to be planted early in spring. They develop and bloom abundantly on sunny sites, although they might also grow in partial shade. This plant prefers moist soils rich in nutrients and humus. It requires additional watering during drought periods. Vial's primroses winter in the ground, but need to be mulched or covered.
