The "Kobold" zinnia (Zinnia elegans) is an annual plant that grows 40 - 60 cm tall. It develops erect, branched and tender stalks that are covered with rough hairs and from which oval leaves emerge. At the end of each stem sits one flower head on a long and strong pedicel. The "Kobold" variety blooms abundantly, developing dahlia-shaped flowers that reach 6 cm in diameter and take on different colours, from white through yellow, crimson, red to purple. They attract butterflies. This zinnia blooms from June until the first frosts and may be used to decorate borders, flower beds and balcony boxes. Its blooms fit into vases as cut flowers, too. They stay fresh for up to two weeks.
Seeds of the "Kobold" zinnia should be sown in March - April under covers. The developed seedlings are transplanted to the permanent site in May in 30 x 40 cm spacings. The soil for zinnia cultivation should be fertile, permeable, humous and sufficiently moist. Zinnias require warm, sunny and open sites. They look best in hot and sunny summers. A package contains 1 g of "Kobold" zinnia seeds, as well as the sow-by date and growing instructions.
