Giant hyssop (Agastache) Black Adder is an attractive perennial reaching about a one metre in height. The offered variety stands out with its long, dark purple, spike-shaped flower clusters and pleasantly scented leaves. The imposing size and long flowering period make it a versatile plant, that perfectly complements a border and looks equally great as a solitary plant. In addition to these advantages, giant hyssop is also a melliferous plant that attracts swarms of bees and butterflies. This plant develops in lush and dense tufts that consist of dark green, ovate, dentate, and slightly pubescent leaves. The scent an Agastache plant excretes is usually described as pleasant, and combining mint and anise notes. Throughout the summer, until the beginning of autumn, splendid spikes of flowers develop over the tufts. At first of a very deep colour, they become lighter as flowers develop. This plant impresses both with the number and size of the spiked inflorescences, making it an extremely valuable part of any composition. Plant giant hyssop in groups, in the second row a border, but they are also a natural fit for planting in pots and large planters. An scented Agastache constitutes a great addition to bouquets too.

A sunny situation with a medium fertile, fresh, highly permeable garden soil offers best conditions for growing giant hyssop. Adding compost to a sandy ground allows you to achieve just that. In the shade, giant hyssop grows too tall, its shoots tend to lodge, and lose their decorative value. We recommend mulching the site to prevent soil from drying out and limiting the growth of weeds. The plant is not fully frost-resistant and needs winter covering.

Each package contains one first-quality rhizome of the gianty hyssop (Agastache) Black Adder. Basic plant facts and a quick growing guide were printed on the packaging label.
