The 'Panda' buckwheat (Fagopyrum esculentum) is an annual plant that is grown mostly for seeds. These are used in production of gluten free groats and flour that are valued for their nutritional and dietetic value. Buckwheat's medicinal properties have been known for centuries and the green parts are often used in herbal medicine. The 'Panda' cultivar grows abundantly, reaching 100 to 115 centimetres. Buckwheat blooms long and its flowers provide bees with valuable food. One hectare of buckwheat culture can bring you from 40 to 100 kg of honey that enjoys high popularity thanks to its taste and medicinal properties. The plant offered here is also grown for green fodder. Its chaff and straw can also be fed to animals. We recommend to use this plant in the crop rotation, as it reduces the amount of nematodes in the soil and blocks weed development.

Buckwheat has low cultivation requirements. It will grow well and yield rich crops even on lesser soils. It does not require much mineral fertilization. Apart from these features, the 'Panda' cultivar is highly resistant to diseases, handles spring frost and drought, even during the flowering period, very well. Buckwheat seeds germinate well in dry soil. The optimal seeding time is mid-May. The seeding rate when growing the plant for seeds is 60 to 70 kg/ha. Buckwheat grown as catch crop or for fodder can be sown until mid-July. Increase the seeding rate in that case up to 100 kg/ha.

One package contains 5 kg of the 'Panda' buckwheat seeds. The sow-by date has been printed on the package.
