The Torpedo F1 celeriac belongs to late varieties. Rich crops of the presented variety can be used directly after the harvest, processing, and long-term storage. This variety develops erect, dark green foliage and large, round, smooth, evenly-sized roots. Torpedo F1 celeriac are valued for easy cleaning and harvesting thanks to the actual roots pointing down. The flesh is white, aromatic, without hollow spots. Presented variety is exceptionally tolerant to vernalisation. Celeriac, apart from its culinary value, brings plenty of nutrients, including vitamin C, B vitamins, and numerous elements, such as potassium, magnesium, calcium, sodium, and phosphorus. The low-calorie celeriac roots taste great raw and cooked. Celeriac roots is added to aromatic stock and juice. It is recommended as dietary supplement in many ailments, like indigestion, arthritis, hypertension, and to reduce cholesterol level.
Growing celeriac from previously prepared seedlings bring best results. For that purpose, sow early in spring in heated room. Transplanting of Torpedo F1 celeriac seedlings to the garden should happen between mid-May and mid-June. Keep plants 40 x 40 centimetres apart. This variety needs about 130 days to ripen. Harvest from August to October. Large, healthy celeriac roots develop in fertile, moist, humous, aerated, and calciferous soil. The site should also be sunny.
