The Chatelaine gladiolus seduces with the subtlety of its light pink flowers that form long rows. Funnel-shaped blooms are valued as garden ornaments. This splendid flowering plant that originates from South Africa is usually grown for cut flower. Gladioli delight not only with their beauty but durability too. Bouquets and arrangements made of them can survive for up to two weeks.  Slender growth form of this species looks great at border background, under building walls, and along a garage driveway. A gladiolus of a beautiful pastel colour will make summer spent in the garden even more pleasant.

Gladiolus, less commonly known as sword lily, requires a high quality soil that is humous, fertile, rich in humous and has pH within the neutral range. Gladioli that originate from warm or even hot regions grow best on sunny sites that are sheltered from the wind. The maintenance of those plants is limited to regular watering and fertilization.

Plant them in spring, in 8 to 12 times 20 centimetres spacings. The average planting depth is eight to ten centimetres. We recommend treating bulbs before planting to protect them from diseases. Gladioli cannot winter in the ground in Central European climate. Starting mid-September, dig out the corms, trim the stems, and let the corms dry. After cleaning them of stem and root rests, corms should be sorted and laid in batches in airy containers that you then store over the winter in dry rooms at a temperature between 5 and 10?C.

One package contains 50 gladioli bulbs of the presented variety. These bulbs are sized 12/14 centimetres in circumference. The basic plant information and growing instructions can be found on the package label.
