Common snapdragon "Tequila Sunrise" (Antirrhinum pumilum) is an annual plant that grows in the wild in South-West Europe and Northern Africa. Grape-like inflorescences that consist of gibbous, bilabiate, single flowers sitting atop short pedicels develop on the erect, stiff stems in June. These flowers resemble dragon's mouth. "Tequila Sunrise" is an exceptional variety with attractively coloured, brown leaves and multicolour blooms. The single flowers are trumpet-shaped and stay on plants until first autumn frosts. The plants grow 30 - 40 cm tall.

Snapdragons may be planted in single-species groupings or combined with other ornamental plants. They harmonise with panicled phloxes, heliotropes, black-eyed Susans, as well as marigolds, petunias, lower growing dahlias and silver ragworts. Due to its relatively small size "Tequila Sunrise" snapdragon may also be cultivated in containers, as balcony and terrace decoration.

Snapdragons are grown from seedlings produced under covers. Sow seeds in March onto the seeding trays. The emergence occurs after 10 - 14 days at temperature between 15 - 23°C. Seedlings are transplanted to the permanent site in May in 30 x 30 cm spacings. These plants prefer sunny sites where they grow most effectively, yet they also tolerate partial shade. The soil needs to be fertile, permeable and moderately moist.
