Cornflower "Classic Romantic" (Centaurea cyanus "Classic Romantic" stands out with an unusual, pink-white colouring of its large blooms. This annual plant is easy in cultivation and ideal for natural and rural gardens. It delights in large single-species groupings with blue cornflowers and flower bed compositions with large-blossom and wild flowers, such as camomiles and poppies. "Classic romantic" bachelor's button, as this plant is commonly called, sprouts slender, yet stiff, branched stems, richly decorated with double, two-colour flowers with visibly denticulated petals. It reaches heights of 60 to 70 cm and blooms from June to September. It does not require any special kind of soil, provided it is permeable. This plant loves full exposure to sun.
Cornflower seeds should be sown directly to borders end of March/ beginning of April. Well developed seedlings need to be thinned so they grow in 15-30 cm spacings. We should avoid transplanting them. They can be cut for fresh bouquets, as their blooms last very long and retain the intense colours and fresh looks.
One packet contains 1 g cornflower seeds. The sow-by date and growing guide are printed at the back side of the package.
