The Honka Fragile dahlia represents a brand new type of flowers. Its single slightly rolled petals resemble a pinwheel to some and wooden bandwagon wheels to others. These unique plants with golden-yellow centres can be successfully grown in gardens and pots that you can decorate various spots of your home with. The up to 70 centimetres tall bushes thrive in mixed compositions and single-species plantings. Their white flowers with a dark pink edge can be easily combined with other colours. They introduce a natural, meadowy touch to the garden. These airy single flowers have another advantage - they remain erect and look up even after a heavy rain.

Dahlia rootstocks should be planted in a permeable soil that is fertile and moist. A sunny and sheltered site proves to offer these plants best conditions as the their fragile stems would be protected from wind gales. Dahlias should be fed with fertilizers and watered. Their tuberous rootstocks are sensitive to low temperatures. They should be excavated from the ground before the winter in most parts of Europe. Dig out the rootstocks after the first frost that usually kills the overground parts of the plant. Cut the frozen stems right above the ground and then carefully excavate tubers. Roughly cleaned and dried dahlia tubers should be stored in a dry, ventilated room that is well protected from frost. Store rootstocks conveniently in baskets or ventilated boxes, covered with a layer of peat or sawdust. Plant rootstocks again after May 15th the next year.
