The 'Golden Harvest' Dutch iris (Iris hollandica) is an exceptionally decorative perennial that develops slender, erect, circa 60 centimetres tall stems that end with single extremely large flowers. Their upper petals are arranged almost vertically and look like a golden crown. This variety can therefore be righteously named a flower bed queen. The long narrow sword-shaped green leaves that surround the flowering stalk add lightness to the plant.
Dutch iris requires soils that are moderately compact, rather moist and rich in humus. It needs sunlight to flower abundantly. The bulbs should be planted in autumn, in September and October, circa 10 centimetres deep. This wonderful variety ideally complements flower beds and thrives in pots. It is also a great cut flower. It looks great in natural, loose arrangements and formal, rigid compositions - particularly in company of other magnificent irises, such as 'Purple Sensation' or the golden brown 'Bronze Queen'.
One package contains 100 bulbs sized 8/+ centimetres in circumference. The bulbs offered here in our store were bred in Holland.
