The Mona Lisa dwarf oriental lily (Lilium oriental hybridum) is an exceptionally ornamental variety that produces large bowl-shaped flowers that consist of subtly corrugated, long petals. They take on light pink colour that turns almost clear white at the edges. The single, long dark pink stripes run through the middle of the petals, whose bases are additionally adorned with small dots. The flowers sit atop stiff, erect stems that grow about 60 cm tall.

The lily bulbs should be planted in autumn or spring, circa 12 to 15 cm deep. The cultivation in a humous, moist, medium compact soil brings the best results. The flowers bloom the most abundantly on sunny sites, even though the plants tolerate partial shade, too. We recommend to mulch lilies after planting in order to reduce the water evaporation and weed growth. The presented lily variety is perfectly suited for growing at the from of a perennial flower bed or in the main part of a lawn. Due to its relatively small size the Mona Lisa variety will look great in pots on a balcony or terrace, too.
