The Firebug gladiolus represents the Bambino cultivar group. It smaller than its large-flowered cousins yet equally beautiful. Blood-red flowers with white stripes can easily stand their ground in comparison with other perennials. Shorter stems are an advantage that make smaller gladioli universal and convenient in growing. Apart from the traditional border routine, they harmonize with dwarf shrubs and can be planted in larger rock gardens. The Firebug gladiolus fills pots and planters with colour. Its cut flowering stalks fit int vases like no other.

Spring, from April to May, is the gladioli planting time. In order to let the plants take root properly, plant them about 10 centimetres deep and 15 centimetres apart. A sunny and wind-sheltered spot is right for them. Fertile soil that is rich in humus and moderately moist provides right conditions for the development of the corms. The ground should preferably have a neutral reaction.

Gladioli are not hardy and cannot winter in the earth. Excavated and cleaned bulbs should be transferred to dry, cool rooms that are secured from frost. Keep bulbs dry in airy baskets and plant again in the garden and in pots in spring.

One package contains 50 gladioli bulbs of the presented variety. These bulbs are sized 12/14 centimetres in circumference. The basic plant information and growing instructions can be found on the package label.
