Jacob's Ladder is a lovely perennial plant that grows 50 to 70 centimetres in height. During each season, this variety flowers twice – from May to June and in September; when the seed stalks have dried up at the bottom portion. Jacob's Ladder, which grows beautiful white to brilliant violet flowers, is suitable for flower beds with moist soils, garden compositions, as well as for flanking ponds.
Growing: sow the seeds under cover or in a seedbed from April to June. The seeds germinate in 15 to 25 days at 15-20oC. Plant out into a permanent position in 30-50cm spacings from August to September. The plants require moist light humus soils with little calcium. They thrive in cool, sunny or semi-shaded positions. Two to three grams of seeds produce around one thousand plants.
