Large-flowered garden pansy "Adonis" (Viola x. wittrockiana) - blue with white-and-navy spot - is regarded as one of the most beautiful varieties of this small (15-20 cm) biennial plant with large, colourful blooms that resemble butterfly's wings. Their large, delicate petals are blue like the summer Mediterranean sky. At the base of each petal there is a white spot with a navy mark in the middle. Charming, truly divine blooms of the "Adonis" garden pansy develop very early, already in April, and adorn the garden until the first cold autumn days.

Seeds of the proposed variety should be sown onto a seed bed or at home in summer. As soon as the plants have developed leaf rosettas they can be transplanted to the permanent site, what should happen in autumn or in spring. For pansy cultivation one should choose sunny or medium shady sites with permeable, humous soil. In the second year we will finally be able to enjoy the wonderful blooms, that would decorate a flower bed, balcony case or flower bowl. Garden pansies can be combined with other popular annual plants, such as french marigold, flossflower or scarlet sage.
