Menthol, one of the essential oils that mint is a rich source of, is the main ingredient of toothpastes, chewing gum and mouthwash. Peppermint is also used in many dishes and drinks, like lemonade or mojito cocktail. Dried or fresh peppermint leaves add flavour to many dishes. This plant blooms in July and August, attracting insects as a melliferous plant. Unfortunately, it loses valuable substances in the blooming stage.
