The "Miss Saigon" is a bicolour variety that dazzles with its striking beauty. Flowers that resemble sculptor's creations appear on the long erect stalks in June and July. This charming, enchanting bulb plant grows 60 to 80 centimetres tall. It needs a warm, sunny situation that is sheltered from the wind. It prefers fertile, permeable, humous soils that have a neutral or slightly acidic reaction. Irises belong to those bulbous plants that do not tolerate too moist soils and shady sites. Plant elongated bulbs that are covered with pale scales in autumn, from September to November. Recommended planting depth is 8 to 10 centimetres. Keep plants 10 to 20 centimetres apart. Plant bulbs in spring, in April and May.  Cover the site where you grow irises with straw, dry leaves, conifer twigs, or bark before the winter. Strong frosts might accidentally damage bulbs, even though this species belongs to winter-hardy plants.  Trim flowering stalks after the flowers have wilted, but leave the leaves to let them feed the bulb for next year. Remove the foliage only after it yellows and the bulb enters dormancy stage.
