The Nitro Plus (Trifolium resupinatum L.) is an exceptionally valuable pasture plant. It belongs to small seed legume plants and comes a wide array of excellent properties. In Central European climate it is usually grown as an annual pasture plant. Nitro Plus Persian clover grows 50 to 70 centimetres tall. The plants take on an erect, branched habit. Their soft stems tend to lodge. Hollow stems carry large leaves that supply high-protein fodder to cattle, pigs, and poultry. Persian clover stands out with quick regrowth rate that allows for up to four cuts in a season. Fodder of the presented clover species has excellent nutritional qualities - it contains plenty of proteins and nutrients, and less dry mass and raw fibre.
Nitro Plus Persian clover offered here grows best in fresh, light, fertile, and moist soil. It needs plenty of light and sufficiently high temperature, as it comes from the Mediterranean. Its shallow root system is the only minus of the plant, as it makes it more sensitive to drought. Vigorous, quick growth and propagation make up for that little defect. We recommend sowing Persian clover from mid-April to mid-May for best results. Grow it rows, 10 to 20 centimetres apart. Do not sow deeper than 1.5 centimetres. Â Clover seedlings are sensitive to crusting soil.
Seeding rate of the Persian clover in pure sow is 15 to 20 kg/ha, and 15 kg of clover and 10 kg of Westerwold ryegrass in mixtures with that grass.
One package contains 0.5 kg of seeds of the Nitro Plus Persian clover.
