Oriental poppy (Papaver orientale) is a perennial plant that loves the sun. It develops large rosettes consisting of green leaves, among which long flowering stalks appear at the start of the summer. This variety, offered in our store, produces typically red blooms that are, however, extremely ornamental thanks to numerous petals and outlandish size - they reach 10-15 cm in diameter. This species is particularly popular in rural gardens, rockeries and naturally arranged gardens.

Oriental poppies should grow on a sunny site in permeable, calcareous soil. This species thrives even in lesser, dry ground. Seeds of the oriental poppy should be sown in spring onto borders or to pots, a few seeds per each. We recommend to sow sparsely or in 50x50 cm spacings. These plants winter well in the field, but they might not survive wet and frosty winter, so make sure to cover them before first frosts.

Each package contains 0.5 g of the red double-flowered oriental poppy seeds. Growing instructions and the sow-by date are included in the package information.
