The ornamental 'crowned' squash (Cucurbita pepo) offered here is in fact a selection of climbing varieties that develop unique, decorative, miniature fruits. Sowing this seeds proves to be a simple way to obtain a vigorous annual creeping plant that will be able to climb upon all kinds of supports thanks to its long and strong tendrils. At the end of summer small, but visually attractive, oval fruit start to appear among the thicket of lush green leaves. Squashes grown from the offered selection take on various colours and various shapes - from elliptical, through spherical, to flattened. they are united by the fact that they have characteristic insets that make the fruit look like miniature crowns. Orange, yellow, green and white, striped, speckled and uniformly coloured these unique and adorable little pumpkins will turn out to be a fantastic autumn decoration for your home and garden. The fruit is unfit for consumption. You may dry them in a dark, warm, airy place and turn them into permanent interior decoration.
Sow the seeds of the crowned squash straight into the ground in late spring. Choose a sunny, warm place with sufficiently fertile, not too dry soil. A site under a pergola, trellis,, gazebo or other support will be perfect as the squash vines will have a place to climb on with their tendrils. The decorative creeping pumpkin grows up to a height of approx. 200 cm. It is worth leaving a space of at least 100 cm between the individual specimens. The fruit will be suitable for harvesting and drying in September and October.
