The Panda buckwheat (Fagopyrum esculentum) is an annual plant grown mostly for grain used in production of groats and flour that are gluten-free and highly valued for its nutritional and dietetic value. Buckwheat products have been long valued for their health-supporting properties. They are widely used in herbal medicine. The Panda variety grows vigorously and reaches 110 to 115 centimetres of height in favourable conditions. Buckwheat flowers long and its flowers supply bees with excellent food. They produce 40 to 100 kilograms of honey from one hectare. That honey is highly valued for its taste and medicinal properties. You can also grow buckwheat for green fodder and feed the chaff and hay to animals too. It is worth including this plant in your crop rotation, as it eliminates nematodes from the soil and suppresses weeds.

Buckwheat is rather undemanding, it grows and yields well in lesser soil too. It does not require abundant mineral fertilization. Apart from that, the Panda variety stands out with high resistance to diseases, it survives cold periods of spring well, and drought even during the flowering period. Buckwheat seeds germinate at high rate in dry soil. The optimal sowing time falls for mid-May. The seeding rate when growing buckwheat for grain is 60 to 70 kg/ha. You can sow buckwheat grown as aftercrop or fodder later, until mid-July. In that case, increase the seeding norm to 100 kg/ha.

One package contains 1 kg of Panda buckwheat seeds. The sow-by date was printed on the package.
