Pansy ‘Black King’ has the darkest shade of all the pansy varieties, which is deep violet to almost black. Similarly to other pansies though, it grows 15 to 20 centimetres in height and is commonly used as a decorative plant. Pansy ‘Black King’ offers the highest decorative value when it is grown in planters or flower beds. This variety is an outstanding ornamental plant to be grown in balcony planters.
Growing: sow the seeds in a seedbed or under cover from June to August. The seeds germinate in around 14 to 21 days at 15-20°C. Plant out into a permanent position in 20-25cm spacings from the spring all the way up to the autumn. Cultivated in sunny positions, the plants flower from early spring to late autumn.
