The Plato alfalfa (Medicago sativa) is a German variety that stands out with hardiness and resistance to diseases, including the verticillosis. This plant develops an erect habit that consists of branched, densely leaved stems. Pale blue or purple flowers of this plant constitute a valuable source of nectar for bees. This exceptionally productive variety produces a high yield of green and dry mass. It is rich in digestible proteins, vitamins, and minerals. You can use it as green fodder or hay-silage. Alfalfa is also an excellent green fertilizer. It improves soil structure, supplies it with nitrogen and organic matter, and perfectly prepares the land for new cultures.

Alfalfa growing site should be carefully prepared and weeded, and the soil deeply cultivated. Apply calcium fertilizer on acidic soil. A permeable, nutritious soil with a basic or close-to-neutral reaction proves to be best for alfalfa. You can sow alfalfa seed at different times from spring to summer, yet the plants started in spring develop stronger root system what supports their strong growth. Grow alfalfa from pure sow or in mixtures with grain and grass species. Presented plant is a perennial that allows you to cut it four to five times during the vegetation period. The seeding norm for the plant in pure sow is 25 to 30 kg/ha.

Each package contains 1 kg of the Plato alfalfa. The sow-by date was printed on the package.
