"Monte Gusto" bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) belongs to the earliest bean varieties as it takes approximately 60 days from sow to harvesting first pods. Shoots of this pole variety may grow up to 2.5 m long. This variety produces long (up to 25 cm), tubular pods that take on vivid yellow colour when ripe. High productivity and resistance to bean mosaic virus belong to the advantages of this variety. Thanks to the excellent, tender taste and lack of strings the "Monte Gusto" variety is usually consumed directly, but the pods may also be preserved or frozen. Pole bean varieties need supports. This particular variety would be perfect for smaller gardens.
Bean seeds are sown directly to the field from May to July. Pole varieties are sown 2 - 3 seeds per hole 50 cm apart. The pods are harvested as they ripen from July to September. French bean should be grown on sunny and wind-sheltered sites. The soil should be weeded and loosened. You will achieve the best results in moderately moist soil rich in humus.
Each package contains 10 g of the "Monte Gusto" pole yellow French bean seeds.
Growing instructions and the sow-by date are included in the package information.
