Spinach "Matador" (Spinacia oleracea) belongs to the most commonly grown spinach cultivars. It is valued for its universal use, as it may be grown in spring, autumn and winter. It will thrive in amateur, small-scale cultivation, too. This extremely productive variety shows great resistance to low temperatures and does not produce flowering stalks. It forms dense tufts with a semi-erect habit that consist of large, oval, often elongated leaves. Their blades take on intense, dark green colour and sit atop long petioles. Spinach "Matador" is intended both for direct consumption and freezing. It has high nutritional value, as it constitutes a rich source of iron, magnesium, calcium and phosphorus, as well as vitamins.

Spinach is grown from direct sow to the field. The "Matador" variety may be sown for spring, summer or autumn harvest. The plants need to grow in rows set 20 - 30 cm apart. Spinach seeds available in our online store have been treated, what means that the pathogens have been eliminated from their surface. Sprouting plants are also protected from the pathogens lingering in soil. Spinach grows quickly and yields rich crops in light, fertile soils that rapidly warm up in spring and are rich in humus and water.

Each package contains 20 g of "Matadror" spinach treated seeds. A growing guide and the sow-by date are included in the product information.
