Stoloniferous (spreading) red fescue Gondolin belongs to the grasses intended for forage. It is a grass of low habit with a very well developed root system. It is a species with low soil and moisture requirements, recommended for pastures at lesser soils and sites that are hard to look after properly. It is frost-resistant and displays over average, even very good winter-hardiness. A variety of Danish origin enters the growing season very early and grows quickly and intensively. Strong runners are responsible for the great turfing potential. Thanks to them, red fescue Gondolin also shows great self-regeneration properties and increased resistance to drought. The advantages of the variety include limiting the development of weeds and undesirable plants on the pasture. Grazed cattle are less likely to eat food that is harmful to them. Fescue is characterized by resistance to being trampled and bitten. It grows rather slowly in the first year and reaches its full usability in the following year. The Gondolin red fescue produces high-volume yield of green mass. It does not have high nutritional importance, as it has a low sugar content and a poor mineral composition. Nevertheless, the species is a valuable plant in areas with poor soil. Prevents soil from erosion.
