The Boston tulip is a variety that dazzles with an unusual, yet slick colour combination. The subtle cup with rounded petals takes on a deep purple colour. A creamy-white streak runs through the middle of every petal. These contrasting colours create a funny play that is put on the display at the end of April and at the beginning of May. The Boston variety is a Triumph tulip that possesses all the valuable features of this cultivar group. It develops a strong, thick stalk that reaches up to 45 cm, its blooms survive harsh weather conditions and the blooming period lasts for three weeks. The Boston tulip is spectacular flower that enchants with its charm and multipurposeness.

The brightly coloured tulips look equally marvellous in the garden and in a container at the balcony. The plants may be used in a wide variety of ways. They will fill spring borders and breath-taking, dense stands on lawns. They will rejuvenate the garden when planted under trees and shrubs. Long rows of flowering tulips planted alongside paths or building walls will provide unforgettable visual effects. You should not forget about tulips as cut flowers, either. A tulip bouquet is a clear sign that spring is coming.

Tulips grow best in the sandy-loam soil. They prefer rich, humous and permeable soils. The optimal soil should be moderately moist or moderately dry. The site should be wind-sheltered, sunny or partially shady. We recommend to transplant the bulbs to another site every 3 seasons.

Tulip bulbs should be planted in autumn only, preferably in September and October. Place the bulbs in the previously prepared soil outside or in containers that are at least 20 cm deep. The bulbs should be covered with a soil layer that is at least twice their height thick. We recommend to add some well-fermented compost to the soil before planting in order to improve its properties. Tulips tolerate low temperatures quite well, yet are not 100% frost resistant. We recommend to mulch the sites with conifer twigs or natural mulch before the winter. This treatment will also prevent weeds from growing and the soil from drying.

One package contains 5 bulbs of the Boston. The basic plant information and growing instructions were printed on the package label.
