The Julius Caesar tulip is a variety of the Greigii tulips. This excellent charming and vigorous variety develops and unfolds its bright red flowers in the middle of spring. Large, satin looking flowers come with slightly waved edges what makes them even more attractive. The petals open broadly in the full sun, presenting a darker eye at the end of the cup. Green foliage is sprinkled with brown-crimson spots. This is a typical feature of the Greigii tulips. The 35 to 40 centimetres tall stiff erect stems that end with a single flower prove to be an exceptional decoration of a spring garden that often lacks colour. Dwarf Julius Caesar tulips are a great arrangement idea for borders, rock gardens, and pots.

When you decide to plant tulip bulbs, choose a sunny or only partially shady site for them. They can only display a fraction of their beauty in the shade. The soil should be permeable. If it is not, providing the plants with a good drainage is recommended. Loosen and weed the soil before planting bulbs in autumn. Mixing the soil with compost to provide bulbs with a portion of nutrients is also recommended. The optimal pH for growing tulips would be neutral or slightly acidic. A tulip growing site should be sheltered from strong wind to protect plants from injuries. Apart from regular weeding, topping after wilting of the flowers that protects bulbs from getting weaker, is the only mandatory care measure. Bulbs should be planted at the depth that equals their double height. Keep the shoot buds, the pointy tips, up. Cover bulbs thoroughly with soil and press it firmly to eliminate all empty spaces. Water once, yet abundantly, after planting. Tulips are resistant to frost and survive low temperatures well. We recommend, though, to cover them with dry mulch or conifer twigs.

Tulips are all purpose flowering plants. You can grow them on single-species carpet-like flower beds, in mixed compositions with other bulbous plants, as well as in arrangements with perennials and annuals. They look great on English-style borders that surround a lawn. It is worth choosing the sturdy and prove tulips to fill planters on a balcony, terrace, or patio. They can be incorporated into rock gardens and used to create colourful spots around trees and shrubs.

A single package contains 5 bulbs of the Julius Caesar tulip sized 11/12 cm. Basic plant information and cultivation tips can be found on the product label.
