The "Montreux" double tulip belongs to the varieties that are not merely ornamental, the are dazzling. It is due to its unusually large, abundant blooms that take on a stylish, vanilla yellow colour. As one of the late varieties, the "Montreux" blooms in May, but this show is definitely worth waiting for. Tall (40 - 50 cm), elegant, peony-shaped tulips will become the true gem of every border, particularly when planted in larger groups.
The optimal time for planting this undemanding perennial is late summer and autumn. Tulip bulbs may be planted until November. Choose a sunny or partially shady site, for example close to the deciduous trees. Tulips like permeable soils that are rich in humus, moist in the spring and drying outside the vegetation period. The abundant, double "Montreux" tulip looks great in the second or even third row on a border with the low growing late tulip varieties in front of it. It presents itself equally well in company of late narcissi and irises, as well as in vases as cut flower.
One package contains 50 bulbs of the 'Montreux' tulip, sized 11/12 cm. The basic plant growing instructions have been printed on the package.
