The "Niigata" tulip dazzles with its pink-purple charm. This attractive flower owes its name to a prefecture in Japan, where a magnificent tulip festival is held every year in spring. Large and shapely flowers are supported by tall and stiff stems that, apart from a noble appearance, ensure resistance to rain and wind. What makes the "Niigata" tulip stand out from the tulip crowd is the unusual colouring of its petals that becomes differentiated and more saturated with time. A fully developed, opened flower of this variety is lavender-purple in the middle and pink-red on the petal edges. The tulip offered here is a great plant that proudly exposes its beauty on borders, flower beds and in rows along buildings and fences. The picturesque flowers constitute great material for spring bouquets, too.

"Niigata" tulip bulbs should be planted from end of September to end of October. A fertile, thoroughly cultivated, mderately moist and permeable soil suits them best.  They should be planted 10-12 cm deep. They bloom most abundantly and beautifully on sunny sites, but partial shade will do them no harm. Tulips are easy to grow and may be successfully grown by beginning gardeners.

One package contains 5 bulbs of the "Niigata" tulip, sized 12 to 14 cm in circumference. The basic growing instructions were printed on the package label.
