The Red Wave tulip belongs to the earliest blooming parrot varieties. This border dandy strikes you with flowers of over average size that consist of oval petals with gently waved, irregular edges. They take on a deep dark red colour. A vertical green stripe runs through the middle of every petal. The bicolour Red Wave tulip grows 40 to 50 cm tall and opens its marvellous flowers in the middle of April. Due to its extravagant appearance and large size it will turn out to be a valuable addition to a spring flower bed. It is also a great cut flower, because it retains a nice and fresh shape of the flower head for a long time.

The Red Wave tulip bulbs should be planted in autumn in the permeable, moist, yet sufficiently light soil. The heavier, often waterlogging soils need to be loosened with a drainage layer. The bulbs will not be exposed to moulding in the soil prepared that way. Please remember that tulips love the sun, even if they tolerate partial shade, when choosing a site for them. The red-green parrot flowers of the offered variety will tremendously harmonize with the yellow and white-orange daffodils, the light coloured hyacinths and single flowered tulips - such as the yellow, red and white Darwin hybrids and Triumph varieties.
