Turnip (Brassica rapa var. rapa) "Golden Ball" belongs to highly valued, quickly growing varieties that produce round bulbs with an unusual colour - both their skin and flesh are yellow-golden. Its vegetation period is medium long and thanks to that it can be harvested in less then three months after sowing. Appetizing roots indeed do taste great, with a flavour slightly resembling that of radishes. They contain plenty of the most important vitamins (A, C, K and B-group vitamins), minerals (kalium, phosphorus, magnesium and calcium) and fibre. Turnip roots might be cooked, fried or roasted.
Turnips are grown only by directly sowing them to the field in summer. The soil should be weeded, deeply tilled, medium compact and fertile, and kept moist, as dried-out field would deteriorate the quality of the crops. "Golden Ball" taproots should be harvested in autumn and early winter, from October to November.
Each package contains 10 g of "Golden Ball" turnip seeds. The package information contains growing guide and the sow-by date.
