The Wood Anemone - (Anemone nemorosa) is a quintessential sign of spring, commonly found in the natural landscapes of various regions. Often forming verdant carpets in deciduous and mixed woodlands, this perennial plant is also a gardener's favourite for its understated elegance.
Wood Anemone -s are excellent ground cover plants, thriving under the canopy of trees and large shrubs. They enter a dormant phase in the summer, so it's advisable to pair them with plants like Hostas, Heucheras, and various fern species that can fill in the gaps.
Standing at a height of 10-20 cm, the Wood Anemone - features a single stem that emerges in early spring. At its apex, you'll find three subfloral leaves crowned by a solitary flower. The bloom comprises 6-8 perianth leaves, often tinged pink on the exterior and pure white within. The flower's centre is a convex receptacle, adorned with numerous stamens and pistils. The standard flower diameter is approximately 4 cm. Basal leaves appear post-flowering, and the plant propagates through underground rhizomes.
Suited for fertile, humus-rich, and slightly acidic soils, Wood Anemone -s are intolerant of both overly dry and waterlogged conditions. They are fully winter-hardy in most climates. Planting can be done in both spring and autumn, and they require minimal maintenance. A light application of compost occasionally is beneficial.
Note: Wood Anemone - is a poisonous plant; handle with gloves during any gardening activities.
This Large Pack includes 10 Wood Anemone - plants, each accompanied by a label providing essential cultivation information.
