The orange Babylon crocosmia (Crocosmia x crocosmiiflora) belongs to the most beautiful and abundantly blooming montbretia varieties. These plants form erect, up to 90 cm tall tufts and produce plenty of grassy foliage. These bright green, narrow, slender leaves do not obscure the blooms, because the flowering stalks are taller, stiff, and erect. The variety offered here in our store develops funnel-shaped, six-petal blooms that are gathered one after the other in a long, double ear. Its juicy, dark orange colour contrasts nicely with the protruding golden-yellow stamina. You may expect to admire the Babylon crocosmia in full bloom in August and September.
The perennial presented here belongs to the not fully frost-resistant species, hence its bulbs are planted in spring and excavated in autumn for wintering in the garage or cellar. In warmer regions they might winter in the ground under protective fleece cover. Crocosmia likes different kinds of garden soil, provided it is permeable and rich in humus. Thanks to the abundant, grassy foliage the plant offered in our garden store looks perfect on lawns, border edgings, in perennial groupings and at all relaxation spots. Its flowers may be cut and placed in vases delicate, funnel-shaped flowers harmonise with pinks and roses.
One package contains 100 bulbs sized 6/7 centimetres in circumference. Plant growing instructions were included in the package information.
