The Cairns tulip is a grower's masterpiece. Its double, pink flowers with thick petals resemble a sweet meringue. This variety produces sturdy stems that are forty to fifty centimetres (sixteen to twenty inches) tall that ensure that wonderful flowers are properly displayed. Flowering of this tulip begins at the end of April and lasts twenty to twenty-five days on average. Cup-shaped, ten centimetres (four inches) wide flowers, add style to flower beds, borders, and plant groups. A double fringed tulip constitutes an excellent component of a composition arranged in a large bowl, basket, or planter.
