The melliferous cornflower ( Centaurea cyanus ) whose seeds we offer here in 1000-gram packages, is a resistant, dependable and easy to grow annual plant. The plants bloom for an exceptionally long time, from mid-May to September, and are very popular with bees. Cornflower supplies bees with nectar and pollen. Honey yield from one hectare of cultivation is approx. 350 kg, pollen yield - as much as 60 kg. The honey produced by bees from the cornflower nectar has a unique, excellent taste, a sweet almond aroma and a beautiful yellow colour.

Cornflower seeds can be sown in early spring already. The plant has very low cultivation requirements. It thrives on poor, dry and permeable, meagre soils. Depending on the growing conditions, it grows up to 40-100 cm in height. The beautiful, intensely coloured flowers of cornflower create picturesque fields. These plants are perfect for growing as single-species cultures. Cornflower is also definitely worth introducing to mixed flower that are intended to attract beds for bees and other pollinators.
