The Beethoven variety of the crown imperial will change your home garden with its fiery dark orange flowers. This plant belongs to the most spectacular bulbous flowers that bloom in the spring. Its stiff flowering stalk carries an impressive whorl of downward facing flowers. A fan of bright green sepals towers over the bell shaped perianths. The stem, covered with a glossy skin, contrasts nicely with the blooms, allowing them to fully present their beauty. These strong stems are surrounded by the lanceolate, vividly green leaves. A large drop of nectar that gathers at the base of every petal belongs to the most characteristic features of this plant. The Beethoven variety excretes a strong, musky aroma. It is said to repel voles and mice, yet this fact is not confirmed by trusted sources. The variety offered here grows slightly lower than the standard imperial fritillaries, as these plants are also called. It reaches a max height of 60 cm. It may be considered an advantage of this plant, as it allows you to use it at the centre of a flower bed, at lower flower beds and on lawns. You will enjoy these magnificent blooms from mid to late spring.

The plants that develop from relatively large bulbs prefer sunny situations. You may plant them on sites bathed in dispersed light, such as the vicinity of thin trees, too.

The impressive bulbs of the crown imperial require a permeable, humous and deeply cultivated soil. They require a moist, yet permeable soil. Plant them rather deep, so the tips are about 20 cm below the soil surface. Start the planting at the end of August and continue until the end of September. Cover the plantings with conifer twigs and dried leaves for the winter. The bulbs do not need to be excavated after each and every season.

The Beethoven variety offered here will form a dependable, seasonal decoration of a flower bed, a perennial grouping or the plantings among smaller trees and shrubs. Rows of crown imperial plants look great alongside building walls and fences.

The price offered here is valid for 1 Beethoven crown imperial bulb sized 14/+ cm in circumference.
