The Dynamite dahlia is a variety that delights with striped flowers. The distinct combination of white and red gives this dahlia an unforgettable flair. Presented variety thrives in a garden and in a pot. Dynamite dahlia, dazzling throughout the entire growing season, allows you to create colourful bedding compositions, but looks great in rows surrounding the lawn too. This medium-tall dahlia growing up to 80 centimetres tall is an interesting proposition for any garden, regardless of its size. Growing dahlias brings another advantage to the table, you can cut flowers and put them in a vase. A bouquet of these unique flowers decorates interiors arranged in any given style.
Dahlia requires a sunny spot, as it needs six to eight hours daily exposure to direct sunlight to produce strong buds in large numbers. The planting site should also be warm and sheltered from the wind. Dahlias feel great in humous, permeable soil with a close-to-neutral reaction. Drought and nutrient deficiencies can hurt dahlias, hence regular watering and fertilization are a must.
Dahlias are usually planted late in spring, after the Ice Saints. This is because plants are sensitive to cold. Setting the right planting date is the key factor in successful cultivation of dahlias. Impatient growers can always go for early cultivation in pots. This method, called forcing, requires you to plant tubers in pots and letting them develop until May in a bright and moderately warm room. Strong seedlings are then transferred mid-May to the permanent site in garden. After the vegetation season is over, around mid-October, dig out dahlia rhizomes of the ground. Let them dry, clean of the remnants of shoots and excess soil, and store in a room where temperatures are cool, yet always above the freezing point.
Each package contains one first choice dahlia seedling of the Dynamite variety. Look for basic plant facts and growing tips on the package label.
