Dahlia-flowered common zinnia "Orange King" (Zinnia elegans dahliaeflora Orange King) belongs to the most beautiful and most popular zinnia varieties and has really large, double flowers. The variety offered here reaches 60-80 cm in height and blooms from mid-June to October. Its stiff, erect stalks branch out, what makes the blooming even more abundant. Plants growing in full sun, on humous, medium compact and rather moist soils will have the most decorative value.
Two periods are recommended for sowing zinnias: the earlier one, end of March/ beginning of April, is suited for sowing the seeds under covers, in a green house or hot bed. If you are keen on planting zinnias directly into the ground, sowing in April will bring the best results. It would be worth to consider creating a composition with "Eldorado", "Canary Bird" and "Illumination" varieties, or place the "Orange King" zinnia on the background of Canada goldenrods accompanied by coneflowers and stonecrops. Stalks with buds that have just begun to open can be cut for bouquets, as the plants retain their ornamental value in vases filled with water for a long time.
One packet contains 1 g of dahlia-flowered common zinnia "Orange King" seeds. Sow-by date and growing guide are printed at the back side of the package.
