Dahlia-flowered zinnia "Peppermint Stick", here offered in a dotted flower variety mix, is an easily cultivated annual plant ideally fitted for a summer border. Its double blooms belong to the most colourful blooms you will ever see. Each of them is adorned with differntly coloured stripes and dots in different shades of scarlet, carmine, pink, purple, yellow and orange. Nobody will find two identical flowers in this motley crew. They appear at the beginning of summer already and will stay in your garden until autumn. These tall (up to 60 cm in height) flowering plants that stun with a multitude of colours and patterns are intended for elevated borders and cut flowers.

This species is easy in cultivation. It thrives on sunny sites with soils rich in nutrients. It handles periodical droughts surprisingly well. Zinnia seeds are sown at home in early spring. Since they grow rapidly, you may also sow directly in garden at a later stage. Young seedlings are transplanted to the permanent site after the spring frosts in 40 cm spacings. Topping first flower buds encourages zinnias to spread and produce new blooms.
