Dahlia 'Otto's Trill' stands out for its gigantic pink flowers. The broad petals have slightly lighter tips, which give these huge flowerheads a sense of visual lightness. A major advantage of this variety is its very strong, rigid stems, which support the weight of such large blooms without the need for constant tying in. Because of its taller growth, it is best placed in the middle or at the back of a border. It flowers reliably throughout the second half of summer and into autumn, and its impressive blooms make excellent material for striking vase arrangements.
Plant in spring, in April and May.
The recommended planting depth is 6-8 cm.
Allow 50-60 cm between plants.
A mature plant reaches 80-100 cm.
Flowers from July to October.
This plant is not frost-hardy, so it needs to be lifted for winter.
'Otto's Trill' looks best in the middle or at the back of a border, where its large flowers can be properly displayed. It also performs well as a cut flower variety - individual flowerheads create a bold, dominant accent in bouquets. In containers, it needs a stable, larger pot because of the size of its flowers.
