Dahlia 'Painted Madam' has large, fully double flowers in which yellow petals are boldly streaked with red. This two-tone pattern makes the plant stand out in the border from a distance. As it is quite a tall variety with strong, stiff shoots, it is best placed towards the back of garden arrangements. The sturdy stems easily support the weight of the large flower heads. It flowers for a long time and reliably throughout the second half of summer and into autumn, and thanks to its lasting quality and long stems, it is excellent for cutting for the vase.
Plant the tubers from April to May.
The recommended depth is 5-10 cm.
This plant requires spacing of 40-50 cm.
This variety reaches a height of 90-130 cm.
Flowers from July to October.
It will not survive winter in the ground, so the tubers should be lifted and stored in cool but frost-free rooms.
'Painted Madam' works well in tall borders, in plantings by fences, and in groups that create a distinct, colourful band. The two-tone flowers combine well with varieties in shades of red, purple and yellow. It is also suitable for cutting - individual flowers make a strong accent in bouquets.
