The 'Highland Lord' daylily is a variety that develops double, scarlet flowers adorned with golden tones. The elegant and noble daylily is a reliable plant that will satisfy every lover of flowering plants. Low cultivation requirements and dozen of flower buds that this plant produces within a single season are the features that make the 'Highland Lord' daylily stand out. The variety presented here can be used in a wide variety of ways. Daylily root sets perfectly fit into home gardens, planters and public spaces. The abundant leaf fans that densely cover the ground do not fall to diseases and do not require any special maintenance or reviving. Thanks to the flower buds that are produced daily the flowering period is extended for several weeks.

A daylily tuft combines slender long leaves and tender stems that end with several flower buds. The distinct beauty of the noble flower colour can be seen from afar. Six broad outward twisted petals and the centre filled with frizzled ones constitute a truly remarkable site. The flowers supported by slender stems proudly reign over the bright green islands of arching leaves. They constitute a marvellous garden decoration in full bloom (August). The variety offered here grows 55 to 70 cm. This height allows you to use daylilies on medium tall flower beds and borders. You can plant it singly or in larger groupings. It looks terrific in planters and pots as balcony or terrace decoration.

Daylilies can be grown on various sites, as this plant can adapt to different conditions. It only does not tolerate complete shade.  Standard average garden soil suits it fine, provided you enrich it with a dab of compost. The maintenance of daylily tufts is limited to watering during drought periods and removing the last year's foliage in spring. We also recommend to fertilize the rootstocks from time to time.

Daylily rhizomes should be planted early in spring or in autumn. Place them circa 5 cm deep and about 30 to 60 cm apart. The 'Highland Lord' daylily is a long lived perennial just like other varieties of this species and can grow at the same site for years. It winters well in the ground - we recommend to cut off the leaves and cover the plant with a thin layer of mulch after the first frost.

The price quoted here is valid for one first choice daylily rootstock of the presented variety. The bag containing the rootstock is equipped with a label that contains basic plant information and growing instructions.
