The elongated red beetroot "Alexis" (Beta vulgaris) belongs to the late varieties that are valued for high productivity and versatility. It develops elongated, cylindrical roots that may grow 21 - 26 cm long. Both the skin and the flesh take on a deep red colour, that they owe to the high betanin content. This variety is intended for the summer and autumn harvest, both for the direct consumption and storing. Roots of the "Alexis" beetroot provide great material for home-made preserves, purees, soups and may also be chopped and frozen.

Seeds of the red beetroot "Alexis" should be sown directly to the ground. That may occur from the middle of spring until the beginning of summer. Using coated seeds guarantees quick and balanced emergence. These also allow for precise sowing and limits the need of pricking out the seedlings. You may harvest the juicy roots from the beginning of summer until autumn. Beetroots need a sunny site with a permeable, nutrient-rich and humous soil. It should not be grown directly after the soil has been fertilised with fresh manure.

Each package contains 100 pcs of coated seeds of the elongated red beetroot "Alexis". The growing instructions and the sow-by date are included in the product information.
