"Kaja" garden balsam (Impatiens balsamina) is a popular border plant that may also be successfully grown in containers. This annual plant develops compact habit and grows 60 - 70 cm tall. Long stems are densely covered with spiky leaves and in summer on their tops numerous blooms appear. These flowers take on beautiful raspberry red colour and are sprinkled with white dots. Garden balsam, or jewelweed, as it is also called, blooms abundantly from June until end of October. It is the perfect plant for borders and flower beds, those partially shady, too, and it looks particularly impressive planted in larger groupings or rows.

Seeds of the garden balsam should be sown in April under covers or in May directly to the site where the plants are supposed to grow. The ready seedlings need to be hardened and transplanted to the permanent site after the last frosts. This plant should grow in 30 x 40 cm spacings. Garden balsam thrives in full sun, but it will also bloom in partial shade. Sandy, permeable, yet sufficiently moist and nutrient-rich soil will suit this plant best.

Each package contains 2 g of the "Kaja" garden balsam seeds. Growing instructions and the sow-by date are included in the package information.
