Daffodils belong to the most popular bulbous plants. The Golden Delicious variety is the living proof why. This sweet-scented, stunningly beautiful narcissus is the pride of many gardeners. Its golden yellow flowers appear in small groups on a single stem. These small flowers that consist of several whorls of subtle petals sit on thin leafless stalks. Flowers that take on a juicy saturated colour remain attractive for a long time, no matter if you decide to leave them on the flower bed or cut and put into a vase. Golden Delicious is a great filler for the flower bed forefront but it also thrives in rock gardens and at edgings. It looks great in pots and baskets and in bouquets.

Daffodils and other narcissi are not too picky when it comes to growing conditions, yet meeting their requirements results in larger and nicer flowers. They feel well in a cultivated, permeable soil that has been enriched with compost in autumn. They can grow in the sun and partial shade of more secluded garden corners, in vicinity of tall trees and shrubs. Avoid waterlogging, compact soil that leads to various diseases and rotting of the bulbs. Plants go into dormancy stage after the flowering period. That is when they gather and store nutrients. Dig out the bulbs after the leaves have dried and store them in dry, airy room until the next planting in autumn. We would like to stress that this activity should be performed every few years and combined with transplanting of daffodils to a new site.
